Welcome to our Native Plant Store
We are now accepting orders for our 2025 Native Plant Sale!
PLANT INFORMATION:
Most of the plants offered in our sale are 1- to 2-year-old bare-root seedlings (no soil on the roots) that typically range in size from 8” to 24” other than a couple specialty species that are “plugs” that are grown in seedling trays. These plants tend to be smaller in stature, and may only be 3” or so tall at delivery.
Conifer trees are sold in bundles of 25, and most deciduous trees and shrubs are sold in bundles of 10, with the exception of specialty shrub species sold in bundles of 5.
To learn more about native plants and help you choose which plants are most suited to your site and goals, visit our Native Plants webpage and/or view our Past Webinars for information on natural landscaping, choosing native plants for birds and pollinators, preparing your site for planting, and protecting plants from animal damage, and much more.
PLANT AVAILABILITY: All plants are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Plants must be pre-ordered by January 17, 2025. Quantities are limited.
PICKING UP PLANTS: Plants will be available for pick-up on Friday, March 1, 2025 or Saturday, March 2, 2025. Plants are only available for pick-up at our distribution center held at Lazy J Tree Farm at 225 Gehrke Road in Port Angeles. Shipping is not available.
To help with the flow of traffic, drive through pick-up times are staggered and a timeslot will be chosen during the order checkout process. A reminder notice in the form of a brightly colored postcard with your order number will be mailed out two weeks prior to pick-up day to help facilitate a quick pick-up of plants.
ALL SALES ARE FINAL: Once an order is placed we are unable to make changes, so please review your order carefully before placing it. Unless prior arrangements are made, plants not picked up on your chosen pick-up date may be donated to restoration projects. Refunds are not available for plant orders that are not picked up.
Red Flowering Currant
Red Flowering Currant
Bundle of 10 plants
Description
Ribes sanguineum is one of the most showy and beautiful native shrubs that we carry in our sale. It is a thorn-less deciduous plant that grows three to twelve feet tall, with reddish-brown bark. Leaves are alternate, rounded, one to three inches wide (occasionally larger), and lighter in color. Flowers are light-pink to deep-red, tubular, and held in upright to drooping clusters of 10-20 flowers turning to dark-blue to black berries.
Habitat
Dry to somewhat moist, wooded or open sites, from the coast to the Cascades. Intolerant of saturated soils. Full sun to partial shade, but may get leggy in shade.
Beneficial Uses
Flowers attract hummingbirds and butterflies. Berries are persistent and do not ripen all at once, providing a longer term food source for numerous birds, small mammals, deer, and elk.
