2024 Forestry Workshops

The Conservation District is excited to partner with WSU Extension Forestry and Washington State Dept. of Natural Resources (DNR) again this year to help with registrations for field demonstrations, webinars, and forest identification walks this spring and summer. Forestry topics may include wildlife and habitat, plant identification, forest management, forest health, the Wildfire Ready Neighbor Program, the DNR Service Forestry Cost Share Program, tree planting & spacing, pruning, thinning, forest diseases, forestland weeds, insect pests, forest regulations & rules, and natural history of the Peninsula.

Wildlife Habitat Workshop

Create wildlife habitat on your property! 
As a steward of your land, there are easy actions you can take to create a wildlife-friendly environment. Spend the day exploring riparian and forested ecosystems with a group of local experts and learn more about enhancing your land for wildlife. We'll discuss forest structure, the importance of snags, down wood and habitat piles, tree planting animal damage control, tree thinning, tree and shrub species selection, nest boxes, amphibian and fish habitat and more!

This program is presented on behalf of Washington State University Extension and Washington State Dept. of Natural Resources. This is an event you won’t want to miss! 

WHEN: June 8 (Saturday) from 10:00AM – 2:30PM

WHERE: Joyce, WA (address will be emailed to registered participants)

EVENT DETAILS:

  • Lunch will NOT be provided, please bring a sack lunch and a camp chair.

  • Please wear boots appropriate for walking in forested terrain.  Depending on weather and ability to park on grass, we may walk upwards of 1 mile throughout the course of the day with mild elevation change.

  • This event will happen rain or shine, please dress appropriately.

  • An ADA-compliant bathroom and wash station will be available on site.
